"I'm Not a Racist... I Just Don't Believe in Mixing the Races..."

One wonders what the qualifier is for being a racist then?

But apparently, Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish in Louisianna, has "piles and piles of black friends."

Perhaps he uses them for kindling?

He goes on to say, "There is a problem with both groups accepting a child from such a marriage," Bardwell said. "I think those children suffer and I won't help put them through it."

Has this man heard of President Obama? Mariah Carey?

This may be a case of "prjection" on Bardwell's part...

Bardwell also says in his own defense "I try to treat everyone equally," he said. He claims that if he married one interracial couple, he'd have to marry other interracial couples. So I suppose it's in the spirit of "equality" that he refuses to marry any of them, thus "treating them all equally."

Only in the south...

hello jason! just watched this on the news and i wonder if he ever refused to do this before? if he did the news never picked it up before. is it just because we have a half white and half black person in the white house that we are making a big thing over every little thing that is said and cry racist? bush had i am sure black people saying things about him and never heard the racist cry! also, no one knows how many black friends the bardwell guy has and does it really matter? i think we are throwing this racist cry around a bit much these days and the news people are helping it big time to be kept in the news! well, thats it on this headline. whats next? the family that is trying to get on tv by throwing up weather ballons with kids in it? i should of tried that when you kids were little. how about rush on his money is not wanted by the football people? how about the crazy weather? so many things to talk about so little time! dad just loves that i talk to the tv when the news comes on. :) now that he hurt his foot he can't leave as easy. :) love and prayers

hello jason! i thought a justice of the peace can choose as a peacher can choose to marry someone or not. if he was able to he did not do anything wrong since it was his opinion. he did not burn a cross in their face or ay or do anything ugly or mean but said how he felt. i don't know how old he is but if he is as old as i am he remembers when kids did suffer because of being a mixed race. anytime you are different from the so called normal you will have it tougher. but to out and out just yell the racist thing because you have a different opinion is wrong. i must be a racist since i don't have any black friends. i was told i was by someone in my family i was racist since i did not vote for obama. heavens, i didn't vote for anyone since i did not like any of my choices that i had. its not that i don't like anybody from another race its because i just don't know anyone black. i really don't care about what color people are because i know i would try to be friends with anyone. but being friends and knowing a bunch of people is a big world of difference. to me a friend is someone you talk with and are around for all the ups and downs in life. being racist to me is treating people unfair and ugly. he did not do that to these people. and they did get married anyway. and for all you know he does have a lot of black friends that feel the same way he does. i still say the news people spin everything to fit how they want. since we have obama in office now anyone that says anything against him is a racist and that is not true. well, anyway, thats my two cents. love and prayers ps if the law says a justice person has to marry everyone than you gays should of been able to marry with no problem. also, if i was from the south i would be bothered with the remark you made at the end of this post. maybe you are racist when it comes to the south??? :)
