UPDATED:

Okay, let's deal with the issue: A child-hunting pedophile, on the Committee for Missing and Exploited Children, instead of owning up to being a creepy child-stalking monster, instead tries to cut his losses by hiding in an alcohol rehab center, and tells everyone he's gay, but, apparently, only when he drinks, and then only attracted to young boys...

Yeah, I'm as confused and as pissed as the rest of you.

Let's first deal with how the Republican party, that bastion of "family values" and "traditional lifestyles" dealt with their little pedophile, shall we? As you can guess right off the bat, Republicans did the same thing the other bastion of "family values" (i.e., the Catholic church) did: They hid it from the public. I know, quite shocking, isn't it?

From CNN:

Foley, who co-chaired the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, did not mention the messages that brought him down.

The lawmaker who oversees the page program, Rep. John Shimkus, a Republican from Illinois, said that he learned about Foley's e-mails in late 2005 and "took immediate action to investigate the matter."
He learned about Foley's e-mails in late 2005!!!! And something happening now is "taking action immediately"? Damn, I always knew Republicans were slow, but this must take the cake!

He was notified by Rep. Rodney Alexander, a Republican from Louisiana, in whose office the page had worked. Alexander forwarded the e-mails to the clerk of the House.

"We ordered Congressman Foley to cease all contact with this former House page to avoid even the appearance of impropriety," Shimkus said in a statement Friday.

"It has become clear to me today, based on information I only now have learned, that Congressman Foley was not honest about his conduct."
Gasp! you mean a pedophiliac stalker wasn't honest?!?! What is the world coming to when we can't expect criminals to be honest?!?

And also from CNN:

Kirk Fordham, a former aide to ex-Rep. Mark Foley, said he alerted the office of the Republican leader of the House of Representatives two years ago about worrisome conduct by Foley with teenage pages, AP reports.
TWO YEARS AGO!!! What was that about "immediate action"? I think they meant "immediate cover-up".

From Yahoo News:

Foley, who represents an area around Palm Beach County, e-mailed the page in August 2005. Foley asked him how he was doing after Hurricane Katrina and what he wanted for his birthday. The congressman also asked the boy to send a photo of himself, according to excerpts of the e-mails that were originally released by ABC News.

Foley's aides initially blamed Democratic rival Tim Mahoney and Democrats with attempting to smear the congressman before the election.
So, instead of making an example of what should happen to child predators, Republicans did what always seemed to work best in the past: They blamed Democrats! How's that for something new and exciting from the right-wing: "It's the left's fault! They are always down on family values!!" Dumbasses.

So then Foley retreats to alcohol rehab! You heard it right. It seems that Foley has decided to hide and claim a victim's title himself in this little investigation into his big No-No's. "Please, I'm an alcoholic! The alcohol made me e-mail those pretty little pages!" If I were an alcoholic, or a recovering alcoholic, I'd be pissed as fuck right now! Not only is he not who you'd want as your poster child, but, in claiming to be a victim and not a criminal, people will get the wrong idea about what alcoholism really is, and what alcohol causes you to do. Here's a hint, though:

Alcoholism is a disease. It is deadly and incurable. And like any other disease there are many different effects. Unfortunately for alcoholics these effects aren't always physical. They can take many forms.

The first form of alcoholism effects are the mental. There is an insane obsession that comes with being alcoholic and the need to get more alcohol under any circumstances. This need drives people to do crazy things. This obsession changes the person emotionally into someone you would not even recognize.

One of the other forms of alcoholism effects is the physical effect. These consist of liver disease, brain damage, and other effects. Alcohol is a toxin. The body of the alcoholic acts as such. This means that the natural detoxification system (endocrine system) treats alcohol like a poison. The liver plays the major role in the endocrine system and is largely affected by alcohol. Alcohol wears away at the liver until it becomes diseased or it fails. Liver failure is fatal. Don't let alcoholism get to this point.
Hmm, let's see. Nothing in there about wanting to chase children. Although we'll all agree that alcohol does make you braver, so you are more likely to chase after the hot chick or that awesome stud in the bar, what does it say about you when you decide to IM kids? Not that you are gay, but that you are a fucking pedophile!

And as a gay man, I can honestly say, being gay makes you want to sleep with other men! Being straight, as are the rest of my siblings, makes you want to sleep with the opposite sex! Being a pedophile, however, means you want to physically abuse children!

This man needs to own up to his sickness and get help. I don't know if it is treatable or not, but would it be too much to ask that people who know they are prone to victimize children voluntarily either be locked up for life, or castrated. Now, this leads down many roads of slippery-slopedness (not the right-wing kind which leads nowhere, incidentally), but the kind which calls into question civil liberties, freedoms, criminal rights, and a whole host of other questions.

But Foley will never get the help he needs by hiding from the public and claiming to be a gay alcoholic.

Foley is not the victim here. I hope you all keep that in mind.

For a related post on what the major difference is between homosexuals and pedophiles, please see Incest, Bestiality, and Pedophilia... Oh My!. Trust me, I know you guys are out there. If you can't distinguish between two grown adults and a grown adult with a child, you need to read it...

Plus, Dar has recently posted a list of other Republicans in our governemnt with, shall we say, not-so-family-values bents in their lives... Here, take a gander by clicking here. She's certainly done her homework on these candidates! Great job, Dar!

Let's see -- we can vote for the Republicans who have a gay pedophile on their side or we can vote for Democrats who have sex in the oval office and then bold face lie to America about it (ie I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky). Get real people!!!!! The democrats are no better than the republicans and if you think they are you are as full of it as that idiotic Pelosi. And as far as politicians using christians to promote their agenda - you are correct. If you will remember the democrats recently started a push for their candidates to appeal to the religious right by faking their opinions on abortion, stem-cell research, etc. because they know that the religious right is where elections are won. So, yes, both sides use emotions and religion as platforms to win and then they do whatever they want. I have to say that I would still rather support the GOP who generally oppose killing babies and support killing terrorists than I would a bunch of baby-killing, whiny, too sissy to fight a war, tattletale democrats.

"Bush's military has killed more babies than any abortion clinic" - that statement alone tells me you have no clue; therefore, your heinous comments should be stricken from the record. Do you have any idea how many babies are killed by abortion every year? I know you liberal anti-God people think they arent really human, but if someone has a working heart, lungs, and many other working parts - they are alive and human. You truly have no idea what you are talking about.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... It seems the first four pilots were killed, and along with it any sense of logic. So let's break this down for the fifth pilot in line, okay?

Pilot5 said: Let's see -- we can vote for the Republicans who have a gay pedophile on their side or we can vote for Democrats who have sex in the oval office and then bold face lie to America about it
Um, are you saying the Republicans didn't lie about it? Look at the facts: Hastet's office, whether they'll admit to it or not, knew about Foley's little--ahem--indiscretions since at least 2003, and perhaps even before that, as more people are coming forward saying that they did indeed tell Republican leadership about Foley's e-mails and IM's. And having sex in the oval office? At least they were both consenting adults, and while still not condoneable, there are enough liars in both parties to go around. You've presented an argument with no merit.

Pilot5 said Get real people!!!!! The democrats are no better than the republicans and if you think they are you are as full of it as that idiotic Pelosi.
I don't think I've heardanyone say they are any better. Do I think they have a better plan and better strategy for America? Yes. Are they any better? No, just their ideas are. They will still fail us, lie to us, trade our benefits in for the sake of business and lobbyists--I actually regisetered Independent, with a leaning toward Green Party, but as long as my options remain "D" or "R," most often I'll vote "D." I'd rather have adults having consesual sex in office who lie about it then Pedo's who lie and get their buddies to cover it up--are you saying adults having sex is the same as violating a child? I do hope not...

Pilot5 said And as far as politicians using christians to promote their agenda - you are correct. You are slightly wrong. Both parties know that the "moral majority" are a pretty big demographic, but they alone do not an election win. But they help. Which is why Dem's are trying for a slight makeover. Of course, Republicans would never do something like that, right? (Hint: wrong...)

Pilot5 said I would still rather support the GOP who generally oppose killing babies and support killing terrorists than I would a bunch of baby-killing, whiny, too sissy to fight a war, tattletale democrats.
More straw man arguments, but I'll address them: Demo's do not support "killing babies," bt they do realize that it is a PERSONAL, PRIVATE choice to be made by the responsible parties. Everyone would like to see less abortions, which is why Dems ususally stand for birth control, sex eduction, and abstinance while Repubs just hide their heads in the sand and say "Abstinence only! No abortions!" And I'm sorry, a collection of cells with the potential for becoming a non-parisitic human is not a baby--but it will be one day. Which is why we'd all like to see the # of abortions go down, but not necessarily dictate personal lives. It's about freedom, dude. I'm sorry if you can't get that.

And when it comes to "killing terrorists," most of us knew Bush's little "topple Sadam" party was doomed to fail, and guess what? It is failing. And all the poor men and women who lost their emotional and physical lives and sanity in this stupid war are only pans in Bush's ill-conceived plans for presidential greatness. The terrorists were never in Iraq--it's on record that Sadam did not tolerate muslim extremists. The terrorists are only there now because we are. The so-called "war on terror could have been better fought in a myriad of ways, but Bush being the pig-headed bully that he is only saw his name in bold lettering in isotry books a sbringing about middle east stability. It's sad that you and so many others have bought into his lies about everything...

Get a clue, or hand the controls over to a better, more educated pilot. Maybe you could learn something being CO-pilot5...

Pilot5 said I know you liberal anti-God people think they arent really human, but if someone has a working heart, lungs, and many other working parts - they are alive and human. You truly have no idea what you are talking about.
Clues:
1. Most liberals are not anti-God. They are anti-religion in politics, but most have a faith as strong as that found in the bible belt. They express their faith differently, and read the bible a bit differently sometimes, but most are still god believers. get a clue.
2. if someone has a working heart, lungs, and many other working parts; let me guess--you wree one of the morons on TV trying to get into the hspital to shove french fries down Terry Shiavo's throat, right? My grandfather was in a coma for almost 2 years, but he died long before his "working lungs, heart, and other parts" shut down. Or do amputated arms and legs count as being "human" when they buck around on the ground after being chopped off? Perhaps this guys twin brother was a human who shouldn't have been "murdered"? Was that an abortion?

And are abortions "okay" in the case of rape and incest? Aren't they "little humans" too? Why should they be exceptions in your little "pro-life" game?

Do you know how many miscarriages happen every year? How many die of cogential defects minutes after birth? If your god does exist (and he doesn't) he kills far more fetuses each and every day than we humans could ever keep up with.

Abortion is never taken lightly, and no one likes the idea, but you have no right (and never should) to tell someone they must give birth to a child, no matter how it was conceived. That's why we try to educate people on safe practices, birth control, peer pressure, and a whole host of other measures so that less people will make a mistake that results in pregnancy. I hope you truly think about the things I've said here...

And as an unrelated question of curiosity: As a prolifer, are you against the death penalty then? Why or why not?

Darkmind: LOL!

Pilot5 said...

Well, I have truly thought about the things you have said. Now, you think about this. Actually there were 4 pilots before me and yes they were killed in a chopper crash in Afghanistan. Only me and 2 others survived - so you got that part right, but thanks all the same for your sarcasm.

And as a matter of fact, I do know that many miscarriages and babies born with congenital defects happen daily. I know this because my wife has had three miscarriages and the daughter we had 6 years ago will never be able to walk because of a rare brain disease.

As far as Hastert - if he knew about this Foley thing - he should step down. Yes, Foley is a pedophile - he initiated relationships with teenage boys, which makes him not only a pedophile, but also sexually deviant - homosexual. I dont think those two things are always mutually exclusive - many times pedophiles have homosexual tendencies - and vice verse -like it or not - truth.
Your position on abortion is simply an uneducated one. I assume that you have been taught that humans evolved from monkeys, and you dont place very much value on human life - typical. A baby is a baby at conception not merely a collection of cells- makes no difference if you dont believe that - it is true nonetheless. I would like to see what you would think if your wife (okay I know your gay, but bear with me here) had a miscarriage at 18 weeks - I know you havent been there, but let me tell you I have - and there is no doubt that what I saw was a human baby. Maybe if you would get rid of some of the hate you have for people who dont think like you (ie christians) you would take off the liberal blinders and see that you are wrong.
And when you say abortion is never taken lightly, I beg to differ - when these dems on tv are talking about abortion, that is exactly what they are doing - taking it lightly. There is never talk of the innocent life that is being violently sucked out of the mothers womb, but all about giving the mother a choice - I say that is a bunch of bull!!!! The mother's choice should have been to keep her legs closed if she didnt want to give birth. And before you call me a hypocrite, let me say that I do not agree with abortion in any case! Incest, saving the life of the mother - no instance. God is in control of all situations - His decision will be the final one and we should not tamper with it.
As for the death penalty question, yes, I am for the death penalty. I am against killing innocent children who have never had a chance to live, but I am for killing adult people who have killed others. Abortion and death penalty are 2 different arguments (unles you are a liberal who would argue with a milepost).

Darkmind: I really enjoyed your comment - I think you have some really good ideas there - why dont you go ahead and put them into practice - we republicans would love o have you on our side, I'll be looking forward to an invitation to your upcoming nuptials, tell me when you are gonna have the rock-n-roll cd burning (I have some old ones I need to burn as well), and I guess I'll see you in church on Sunday!

Pilot5, you're still missing the logic on a few points...

In regards to losing your military service members, I apologize for offending, though still stand by my sarcasm that you should hand the controls to someone else.

I could also cry a river at the amount of diseases and miscarriages that plague my immediate family--it doesn't negate the fact that a fetus is a fetus is a fetus is not a baby until it can live and breathe on its own outside the womb. I have mourned and wept with my sister 3 times, my sis-in-law four times, my aunt 3 times, and a very close friend more times than I can remember at the loss of those cells that had potential we were all looking forward to. I have a nephew I may never get to meet; and I have one niece who has more health problems than anyone should ever have to go through; it all doesn't matter if (a) that future child is unwanted (b) that future child will not be cared for (c) that future child will only live a few minutes outside the womb...

You said I would like to see what you would think if your wife (okay I know your gay, but bear with me here) had a miscarriage at 18 weeks - I know you havent been there, but let me tell you I have - and there is no doubt that what I saw was a human baby. Maybe if you would get rid of some of the hate you have for people who dont think like you (ie christians) you would take off the liberal blinders and see that you are wrong. It was going to be a human baby, yes. And no matter how sorry I am for your loss and for the loss all our families have experienced, it wasn't yet a child. But it had the potential to be one; and when we so look forward to that potential growing before our eyes and then to hold and raise and nourish that child--losing that hope is awful! But you are still going to sit here and tell me that every single woman who gets pregnant whether of her own accord or not needs to give birth to that child? Have you ever heard of mitigating circumstances? Are you going to raise all these children that would have been aborted? Give the families money to raise these kids? I didn't think so...

You said Yes, Foley is a pedophile - he initiated relationships with teenage boys, which makes him not only a pedophile, but also sexually deviant - homosexual. I dont think those two things are always mutually exclusive - many times pedophiles have homosexual tendencies - and vice verse -like it or not - truth.
And sometimes straight and pedo have the same tendencies.... non-argument. You are trying to argue on stereotypes, which will never win you any points here. FACT: Pedophiles aim for children. FACT: Most pedophiles are usually married with kids of their own and identify as "straight." FACT: Pedo's 90% of the time are a family member or close family friend. Gay and Straight have to do with consensual adult relations--pedophilia deals in sexual victimization and dominance and abuse. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! If you can't see that, I'm wasting my breath here.

You said: And when you say abortion is never taken lightly, I beg to differ - when these dems on tv are talking about abortion, that is exactly what they are doing - taking it lightly. There is never talk of the innocent life that is being violently sucked out of the mothers womb, but all about giving the mother a choice - I say that is a bunch of bull!!!! The mother's choice should have been to keep her legs closed if she didnt want to give birth.
"Should have kept her legs closed"? Are you serious? That "blame the victim" mentatlity just throws me for a loop. Not only is absitnance the worst form of birth control (as in, most people don't practice it near as much as they preach it, despite being 100% effective), when kids know all the facts about everything they are much more likely to abstain. Do the research. Most pregancies that do occur happen when (a) people don't have the facts and don't take proper precautions (b) rape (c) accident. Plus, esp in third-world countries, women don't have a say in "keeping their legs closed." Men take what they want when they want, which is why AIDS is so rampant in parts of Africa--women have not been empowered, and so are victimized. Cells do not have rights--people do.

You said: And before you call me a hypocrite, let me say that I do not agree with abortion in any case! Incest, saving the life of the mother - no instance. God is in control of all situations - His decision will be the final one and we should not tamper with it.
That's a rather large can of worms. Do you ever see a doctor? If God is in control, you shouldn't mess with the natural cycle of the virus. Or when you rip open a leg. et the body heal itself as God intended, or die as god intends--but seeing a doctor and getting medicine would be unnatural. So women are only good for incubation? They must go through the trauma of giving birth to their father's daughter? Their rapists child? Some culture of life....

You said: Abortion and death penalty are 2 different arguments
Not so different as you're hoping, I think. But we can cover that another time if you wish...

And I do believe Darkmind was being sarcastic....
